The disclosure

Filament Select participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, Filament Select earns from qualifying purchases.

Links to other retailers may also be affiliate links, run through networks such as ShareASale, Impact or Awin. If you buy something through one of them, Filament Select may receive a commission. The price you pay is exactly the same either way.

Why this does not bend the results

Every match on this site is ranked by CIEDE2000 perceptual color difference and nothing else. There is no commercial weighting anywhere in the ranking code. A filament with no affiliate link at all will outrank one that has a link whenever it is the closer color — and that happens constantly, because most of the catalog has no program behind it.

That is not a promise you have to take on faith. The matching method is documented in full, and the ΔE figure that produced each result is shown next to it. If a match looks wrong, the number it was ranked on is right there to check.

This matters more than the commission does. A color-matching site that quietly favours whoever pays it is worth nothing, because the only thing it sells is a trustworthy answer.

What we do not do

• We do not accept payment for a higher position in results.
• We do not hide filaments that have no affiliate program.
• We do not receive your order details, payment information or identity.
• We do not set advertising cookies. Analytics, and how to turn it off, is described in the privacy policy.

Discount codes

Some retailers let us pass on a discount code, usually for a first order. Where one applies, it is shown beside that retailer's Buy button with the date it ends, and on stores that support it the Buy button applies the code for you. A code comes from the retailer's affiliate program, so using it can still earn us a commission. Where a retailer offers larger discounts on larger orders, those codes are listed under it too.

A code never changes the price we show. That price is the one we last observed at the store; what you pay after a discount is decided at checkout, by the store. Codes are withdrawn from the page on the day they end.

Color accuracy is a separate promise

Independent of any commercial arrangement: the color values on this site are approximations, and each one says where it came from — measured from a physical printed sample, published by the manufacturer, sampled from a product photo, or estimated. Real filament shifts with pigment batch, layer height and finish. Order a sample before committing a large print.
